Tiji Festival Tour in Nepal

Teeji/ Tiji Festival Tour Nepal 2018 is going to celebrate on 12,13 and 14 may 2018. Tiji festival is an annual event of indigenous people of Lo-manthang. Tiji Means an a Observation of world “Tempa Chirim” which means “Prayer for world peace”. Tiji Festival commemorates the victory of Dorjee Sonnu over a demon called Man.

The festival usually celebrated in mid of May and last 3 days. The group of monks for Choedhe monastery perform the ritual dances of celebration. The harassment of Ma Tam Ru Ta (in a dance called “Tsa Chham” on the 1st day), the birth of Dorjee Sonnu who is demon’s son (on the 2nd day called “Nga Chham”) and the attempt to return the demon to Lord Buddha’s realm (on the third and final day) are enacted during the performances. Tiji festival dances aew organized by Choedhe monastery, which is also Belong to the Sakya sect of Buddhism.


Every year many tourists visit Tiji Festival. Some of them reach lo-manthang by trekking which takes 17 days for from Kathmandu and now a days many tourist reach lo-manthang by 4WD jeep from Pokhara or see the TIji Festival. 17 days Tiji Festival trekking is very famous among those people who wants to explore Upper Mustang’s ancient monasteries, cave, local people, and culture with traditional Tiji Festival. Tiji Festival trekking is more cultural wilderness trekking in Nepal.
