Well, almost the population of the world knows about Mount Everest (8848m) is the highest peak in the world and very few know where is it located. Some people say it’s India which is false. Mount Everest also known as Sagarmatha (the forehead of the world) in Nepali language is located in Nepal. A small country bordering the two giants of Asia, China, and India.

Being landlocked country Nepal is often misunderstood as part of the neighboring country but don’t fall for that terrific claim that few people of the world do.

In which Country Mount Everest is Located

Geographically, Everest is located at the border between Nepal and Tibet (part of China) but all the Everest summits done by Sir Edmund Hilary, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Kami Rati Sherpa and many other mountaineers had done from Nepal. So Mount Everest lies in Nepal. The first female climber of Mount Everest is Japanese climber Junko Tabei who successfully summited Mount Everest on May 16, 1975 ad.

Apart from Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and his team there many other team of British mountaineering expedition who tried summiting Everest both side simultaneously. The team which was led by George Mallory was the first one to start expedition in 1921 ad which was unsuccessful. The team tried for three times but no evidence seen were proven that they did it.

Later after 75 years if the dead body was found in 1999 ad which was from the second expedition 1922 ad and many believe that George Mallory did the summit but some are still looking for evidence. Some people also says that successful summiteers are the one who return as well, not only climb the mountains. However we do respect his attempt in 1922 ad despite of what happened.

The renowned Guinness book of world records has also declared that Mount Everest is the world’s highest peak and is located in Nepal as well as some part of Everest on Tibet side. The exact location of Everest happens to be at ward no. 4 of Khumjung Village of Solukhumbu district, Province 1 of Nepal. On the Tibet side it’s Xigaze, Tingri, Tibet, China. 27°59’ North latitude, 86°55’ East longitude.

To be exact the north face of Mount Everest lies in the part of Tibet and the south face is in part of Nepal. The climatic condition of Everest is Hostile to living beings. The warmest average day time temperature is about -19 degree Celsius and coldest month of January is around -36 degree Celsius.

Sometimes the temperature drops as low as – 60 degree Celsius. Storms can come up suddenly, avalanche always risk the safety of climbers. The risk of frostbite for climbers of Everest are extremely high.

1.Sagarmatha National park

Everest region holds variety of vegetation as well as animals. The zone is converted into Sagarmatha national park and Makalu Barun national park as well. The place holds variety of endangered birds like Himalayan Monal (Lhopophorous impejanus), Snow Leopard, Red Panda and others. However, the story of Yeti is still a mystery.
Many believed yeti as man eater, some believe that they do still exist, some believe that yeti extinct. Some people believed that due to the altitude sickness people hallucinate and see some random images and name them as Yeti. The monastery in Khumjung village holds the scalp of yeti which has many scientific reasons of existence and non-existence of that creature.

2.Avalanches

The high risk zone for avalanche is Khumbu glacier. The glacier is located on the flat plain on the mountain below the nearby peaks of Pumori, Lingtren and place called kalapatthar. Place where helicopter is landed and many people do the trek to kalapatthar and helicopter return.

Everest and the surrounding peaks are home to many glaciers and steep ice falls. The icefall hangs off like frozen waterfalls on the side of mountains.
