Everest Base Camp Motorbike Tour (11 Days) is one of the greatest two wheel experience in the world. The journey offers the barren tree less landscape of Tibet, beautiful Tibetan villages, devout Buddhism, nomadic herdsman grazing their yaks and cattle and backyard highest mountains of the planet. Riding yourself in Tibetan highway across the roof of the world is likely be the ultimate adventure that may be lifetime experience.

The journey starts from Kathmandu and cross Kerung border through Sabrubesi. The second day you will have short ride to Kerung Bazar which is about 2900 meter altitude where you will stay one night for acclimatize. The next day you will ride through the vast Tibetan plateau, enjoying the picturesque landscapes, crossing Tibetan villages and 5200 meters high passes reaches Tingiri. After Tingiri you will ride to Ronbuk where you will stay overnight and visit Everest base camp and back to Kathmandu on same routes.

This is our outline itinerary which you can customize as per your interest and requirements. If you want extend your motor biking itinerary, we have option of 14 days Kathmandu Lhasa Motorbike tour. We are operating both group joining and private motorbike tour to Everest base camp.

About Motorbike:-
We have 411 CC Royal Enfield Himalayan, 500 CC Royal Enfield classic and Honda CRF motorbikes which are very powerful and comfortable for long drive to Everest base Camp. Also we also provide other brands of motorbikes if your require brands of motorbikes are available in Nepal or in Tibet.

Riding your own motorbike in Tibet:-
Riding your own motorbike in Tibet is also possible. We need proper documents of your motorbike which you are bringing for Tibet tour. Once we get your documents we will issue the motorbike permits accordingly.

The Best Time To Go:-
Tibet's climate is favorable all year around for motorbike tour. Overall, the best time for Everest Base Camp Motorbike tour start from April to November. During this season you can enjoy the crisp air, deep blue sky, beautiful landscape and wonderful Himalayan Range. December, January and February are also good season for weather but due to the cold weather it is not recommended for bike riding.

Travel Tips: Month of March is not allowed for international tourists to visit Tibet due to the Tibet travel policy.

Tibet Visa and Travel Permit Information:-
All foreigners other than Chinese and Tibetan need to obtain Tibet visa and travel permit to enter the Tibet. Tibet travel permit is issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau. Tourist cannot apply their travel permit themselves. Tibet Bureau only accept application from registered travel agencies like Global Holidays Adventure. Tibet permit or visa comes in paper, not in your passport. Once we get your confirmation email and necessary documents we will apply your permit and visa according to your travel dates.

(Note: It is very important that Tibet Travel permit and Tibet Visa is different. You can’t enter the Tibet just with Chinese Visa. Before entering Tibet you should obtain Tibet Travel permit.)

Require document for Tibet visa /Permit:-

  • At least six month valid clear scan copy of your passport.
  • Chinese visa copy by email (For those travelers who are entering Tibet from mainland China)
  • You have to fill up a form Chinese Embassy Kathmandu with your latest passport size of a picture. For those who are Travelling from Nepal. Global Holidays Adventure will manage it).

Tibet Tourism Bureau takes one week time to approve the travel Permit. Sometime it take more than a week so applying your Tibet permit before 15 days Is safe way.

Diplomats passport holders, journalists, professional media photographer and government officials are Not able to issue their Tibet Travel permit through normal travel agencies. They are only able to get under the arrangement of foreign affairs.

Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport Global Holidays Adventure representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, evening you'll meet Mr. Surya or Mr. Samsher to brief about your trip.

Trip preparation for Tibetan visa and Kathmandu Sightseeing.
(Because we need at least 3 working days for final visa from Chinese Embassy. Today we apply your visa and get early hour on 3rd day so that we can start same day from Kathmandu.)
Today after breakfast you will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. All of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' Swayambunath and Buddhists shrine of Bouddhanath which is one of the largest Stupas in the world and Medieval city Patan.

Half day Bhakpatur Durbar square sightseeing and rest of the day for trip preparation.

Ride Kathmandu to Shyabrubesi (Elevetion 1,140 m) - 125 Km / 7-8 hours.
After get your final visa from Embasy, you will kick up your motorbike to Shyabrubesi. You will follow 40 Km to the Prithibi and turn left to the Kerung border. Due to the road condition it is very long journey through remote areas of Langtang national park till Rasuwagadi through Nuwakot, Dhunche and you will stay overnight at Shyabrubesi.

Day

Ride Shyabrubesi to Kerung (Elevetion 2,750 m) - 42 KM (3 hours including necessary border formalities) rest of the day acclimatization at Kerung.
Today after breakfast at guesthouse you will dive 18 Km to Nepal and Tibet border. After necessary border formalities you will drive to Kerung 24 KM from the border. Rest of the day you will explore the local town of Kerung and no more drive for acclimatization for next day.

Ride Kerung to Tingri (Elevation 4300 m) - 244 Km / 5 hours.
Today after breakfast you will ride uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the world. from where, weather permitting, breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt Cho Oyu (8201 M) & Mt Xishapagma (8012M) but dwarfed by the Vastness of the Tibetan plateau. From TINGRI, one can enjoy the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848 M).

Ride Tingri to Ronbuk (Elevation 4980 M) Visit Everest Base Camp (Qomolangma base camp) and overnight at Ronbuk: 90 Km/ 3.5 hours,
Today After breakfast you will cross Gawu La Pass at 5,198 meters and ride to Ronbuk through beautiful Tibetan countryside. You will explore Ronbuk Monastery (highest monastery in the world) and and enjoy the close beautiful views of Everest. (Before 4 Km of Ronbuk the chinese government not allow any vehicles so to reach Ronbuk will go by electric bus which are avaliable every 30 minutes. Also now without climbing permits other visitors are not allow to the Everest base camp. But you will reach 1.5 Km before base camp where the views are similar and gigantic).

Enjoy your beautiful morning in Ronbuk with the scenic view of Mt. Everest and ride back to Tingri (90km).
You will enjoy your morning with scenic view of Mount Everest (Qomolangma) and other Himalayan peaks. Here you will visit oldest Ronbuk monastery which is highest located monastery in the world. Latter ride back to Tingri via same road. It is only short riding back to Tingri where you can spend your time by taking pictures of Himalayas.

Ride back to Kerung (244 km - 6/7 Hours).
You will back to Kerung same road with scenic views of Lakes, Mountain, Land and local Tibetan settlement.

You will Ride down to the Nepal Tibet immigration. Say good bye to Tibetan driver and Guide. After immigration formalities, you will ride again to Kathmandu through same way.

Everest Base Camp Motorbike Tour is designed for those adventure lovers who are physically fit and have good skill for Motorbike riding in cold Himalaya. During this adventure you will cross 5200 Meters altitude by motorbike, so you should have good physical condition for this trip.


Of Course, without a license you are not a real rider. So for Everest Base Camp Motorbike Tour we will issue temporary Chinese driving license for you. Which allow you to drive in Tibet. To issue the temporary driving license we need your scan copy of your international driving license


You don’t need any experiences of Himalayan ride but make sure that you are a good motorbike rider and can drive for a long way in cold Himalayan road.


Yes, we provide one private supporting Van/ Truck during your motorbike tour in Tibet. Your all luggage and spare parts of motorbike will carry by our supporting Van.


We provide 411 CC Royal Enfield Himalayan or 500 CC Royal Enfield classic motorbike which are very powerful and comfortable for long drive. Please write us which bike is comfortable for you. We can also provide other brands of motorbikes if your require brands of motorbikes are available in Nepal or in Tibet.


1 Road Captain/Chief Technician and 1 mechanic will be provided during the whole trip. An experienced English speaking Tibetan guide will guide you to the sightseeing places in the Tibetan cities.


The Tibetan climate is not as harsh as many people imagine it to be. Tibet's climate is favorable to travel from April to the beginning of November, and most ideal in August and September. However, Lhasa's climate is more clement than the rest of Tibet, and is suitable to travel year-round. The sun radiation in Tibet is extremely strong. It's not for nothing that Lhasa is called the Sunlight City. The months of May, June and September are the primary tourist season in eastern Tibet.


Tibet is home to some of the world's tallest mountains, several of them making it to the top ten lists. Furthermore, some of the major rivers of Asia have their source in the Tibetan plateau. With its vast grasslands, high mountains and alpine lakes, Tibet is surely a dream destination for tourists, climbers, trekkers and for adventure travelers.


To obtain the Tibet visa if you are travelling from Nepal, We Global Holidays Adventure apply your Tibet visa at least ten days in advance with all your passport details and PP size photos. With passport and itinerary details visa will be stamped before your departure to Tibet. Most of the Tibet visa will be done in group wise minimum of 2-5 pax with 2 sheets of papers with name list and passport details where visa will stamped one entry and other final departure from Tibet.


It can take about a week to three days in urgent cases.


Yes, it is possible. We obtain your visa with your tour package. Once your tour is confirmed with us we will apply your permit bofre 20 days of your departure then we will obtain your visa once your arrive at Nepal. For tibet visa we need your orginal passport and 3 offical days in Kathmandu.


You can get Tibet travel permit through a proper agent from mainland China or with Global Holidays Adventure reliable and swift services, where you have to inform us before you enter into China.


So far there is no age-bar to get Tibet Visa, any one from child to elder can apply Tibet Visa.

Unfortunately, due to China's very strict tourism policy for Tibet, it is not possible for you to get a visa by yourself and it is not possible to travel in Tibet on your own. As an authorized travel company like Global Holidays Adventure will organize everything; visa, permit to enter and all other paperwork.


The unit of currency is Chinese Yuan. The Bank of China can exchange all foreign currencies. The banks in Tibet/China are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Travelers Cheques and credit cards are very difficult to be cashed outside the banks especially outside Lhasa.


ATM facilities are easily available in Lhasa and Shigatse; however, it may be difficult to find one in other smaller towns or in remote places.


Known as the Roof of the World, Tibet is one of the highest places on earth. Due to Tibet's high altitudes, many visitors from low-altitude areas may suffer from altitude sickness. Most people suffer minor effects of altitude sickness only, which include headache, loss of appetite, and a tendency to have no energy until their bodies adjust to the high terrain. This adjustment can take anywhere from a few hours, and in rare cases, a few days. If visitors do some simple preparations before going to Tibet, most of the symptoms of altitude sickness can be avoided. Being healthy and in good shape before you arrive in Tibet will help greatly. It is also recommended that you talk to your local physician about AMS pills to help combat altitude sickness. Once arriving in Tibet, walk slowly and take deep breaths. Your tour guide will be there to offer help and suggestions.


Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Hepatitis B are some of the vaccines advised to all travelers who are planning to visit Tibet. Yellow fever vaccines are recommended for those who are coming from Yellow-fever-infected country like Africa or the Americas otherwise it isn’t required or recommended. But the best would be if you consult your doctor or physician prior planning your tour.


Visitors to Tibet do not need to worry about the language barrier at all. Each visitor will have an English-speaking tour guide, and most of the front desk staffs in the big hotels can communicate in English. The main languages used in Tibet are Chinese, Tibetan, English and Nepali. If you are a solo traveler, you will get pretty more people who can speak these languages in Tibet's most popular tourist spots.


Generally, the electricity supply in Tibet is 220V, 50HZ. If you have a plan in future to travel in Tibet and wish to bring some electrical devices with you for basic use then keep in mind that transformer is very essential. Tibet hotels bathrooms have the access of 220V and 110V electrical devices power. But, in the guest room normally only 220V electrical sockets are available.


Definitely there is internet access for foreign traveler in Tibet but only on limited areas like Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse and Tsedang where some café provides internet facilities. In addition, hotels in some city like Lhasa and Shigatse also provide internet facility to their customers.

What type and standard of accommodation will I encounter?


Generally, it is quiet safe in Tibet. Almost all Tibetans are devout Buddhists who believe that good deeds will gain advantages in their next lives and crimes are also very rare in this region. But tourists need pay attention to dogs that are free to move everywhere. So you need to take care while you are travelling alone in the night time. We strongly recommend foreign traveler not to walk in the night time.


Despite being the large landscape time zone of all the state of china is measured from Beijing, which is 8 hours ahead of GMT standard time zone. Now, we are clear that Tibetan time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). And it is 2 hours and 15 minute ahead of Nepalese standard time and 2 hour and 30 minute ahead of Indian standard time.
