Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most adventurous treks in Himalayan region. Besides Nogzumba glacier, the largest in the Himalayas, calmly stays the Gokyo lakes consisting the highest freshwater lakes of which Gokyo Cho (Dudh Pokhari) is the most popular and Thonak Lake is the largest. Above the famous Gokyo valley, Gokyo Ri(5357m) stands offering the majestic view of four 8000m high mountains namely Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and many others of the Himalayas.
The flight from Kathmandu takes to Lukla from where the Everest Gokyo Lake Trek starts. From there the walk heads towards Gokyo via Namche, the ancient Tibetan trading hub. The surreal mountains, delightful landscapes and many other flora and fauna are the attraction of the trail. Heading little high trail Gokyo Ri welcomes with thrilling views of mountains, Gokyo lakes and tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung located in the Khumbu region. The trek moves forward to Everest base camp (5380m) passing through the adventurous Chhola pass (5420m). From the base of the Everest Base Camp we reach Kalapatthar(5644m), located on the south ridge of Pumori (7161m) above Gorakshep. The place provides enthralling close up view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, Lhotse.
Back in the trail, the old artistic Buddhist monasteries and museum, traditional Sherpa culture and their kind hospitality are some exciting features to be experienced.

When you arrive in Kathmandu, our team will be there to welcome you and they will have a card with your name on it from PLA. You will then be transported to your hotel in a private vehicle and in the evening, there will be a short meeting to go over the details of the trip.

In the early morning, you will travel to Ramechhap and take a flight to Lukla. The drive to Ramechhap takes around 4 hours. The flight to Lukla is a unique experience due to the high altitude of the airfield and the short length of the runway. Your trek will then continue to Phakding, where you will enjoy the scenic green landscapes and the view of Kusum Kangraru.

On our journey today, we will follow the trail along the Dudh Koshi River, ascending through the forests of Himalayan pine and cedar to reach the historic town of Namche Bazaar. Namche has a long history as a trading hub, where Nepalese and Tibetan merchants traded items such as salt, dried meat, and textiles. It remains a significant trading post in the Khumbu region and offers the opportunity to purchase traditional crafts. We will spend two days in Namche for acclimation, exploring the market, interacting with the local community, and bonding with our team. Along the way, we will experience stunning views of Everest and the neighboring peaks for the first time.

Today will be acclimatization day in order to prevent altitude sickness. We will wake up in your own time and grab some breakfast and ascend towards Khumjung. We will follow the trail ascending above Namche bazaar which passes through Syangboche, where local airport is located. You will get the good view of tengboche, Amadablam and other mountains on clear day.

Today, the trail ascends steeply out of valley through rhododendron forest, juniper and large conifers start to appear as the elevation increases making the trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through Yak pastures and summer settlements. The views of Khumbi La and Tawache are magnificent throughout the day.

The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. We will reach at Machherma by early noon.

Today the trek takes us to one of our final destinations, Gokyo (4790m). We will make this camp our base for 2 nights as we will have couple of sightseeing and hiking trips around Gokyo.

Today, early in the morning we have steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri at an elevation of 5483 meters, with a lot of rewards at top. There are stunning views of the supper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas, such as giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang.

Today is a long trek starting before sunrise at 4/5 am to reach the pass by 9-10 am otherwise weather conditions will greatly affect our journey. We cross over at an altitude of 5300 meters, we could be exposed to strong winds if we are too late. We start to climb steep tracks that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, then we descend to the Dzongla at noon.

The last day hard walk and its exhaustion is recovered on this day as the walk is short and rather relaxing.

This is another big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365meters. , the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Gorak shep for the night.

This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. Most of morning in this day is spent climbing Mt. Kala Pattar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5555meters. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29028ft, 8848meters, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep, a tiny hamlet at 5180 meters then trek down to Periche.

From Periche we take a slightly different route down to Orsho then to Pangboche village. Here is the oldest monastery in the region which contains what is said to be the scalp and bones of a Yeti, or abominable snowman. Leaving mountains behind us, our descend takes us through Tengboche Monastery at elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to the town of Namche Bazaar at 3441meters. We arrive back into Namche Bazaar in the afternoon.

You can expect basic teahouse-style accommodation on the Everest Base Camp Trek, with communal dining areas. Now a days you could find luxury hotels/guest houses like Rivendell, Yeti Mountain home and the one and only hotel Everest view.
In the Higher Himalayan region, toilet facilities are usually communal and can be found in teahouses and lodges. These facilities are generally maintained well and kept clean. However, some teahouses and lodges now offer private bathrooms, although they may be limited in number. We will do our best to recommend the most suitable option for your needs.
To reach Everest's Base Camp, one must typically take a 30-35 minute flight on a small plane to Lukla, followed by a trek to the south face of the mountain. The Base Camp itself is located at an altitude of 5364 meters or 17598 feet.
Trek include warm clothing, a good pair of hiking boots, a first aid kit, a sleeping bag, and a backpack including your regular clothes and your daily required items sanitizer, moisturizer, etc.
Altitude sickness refers to an illness caused by ascent to high altitude, characterized by hyperventilation, nausea, and exhaustion resulting from shortage of oxygen.
Your guide will be the experienced, local or someone who knows the area very well. He/she will be good communicator and have guts to face the unexpected difficulty during the trek, responsible human and will take care you in case of emergency. Most of all s/he will have strong determination to take you to basecamp while respecting your strength and freedom.
This is a moderate level of trekking which moves through periphery in Sagarmatha National Park but some days can be challenging when you follow the trail leading to mesmerizing Gokyo Lake. The classic trail to reach base camp is not too challenging nor too easy.
During the trek you have to pay extra in order to charge your phones, camera, laptops from micro hydropower and solar panels. As for Wi-Fi you do have to pay extra as well. The only place on the trail where Wi-Fi is available are Starbucks coffee in Lukla and Everest Bakery on Namche. It is better if you subscribe to Everest Link Card in the Everest region to stay connected. The price for Everest link card is $20 for 10 GB data with validity of 30 days and $30 for 20 GB data with validity of 30 days as well.
The choice of equipment depends on the individual interest and choice. The factor to consider is to carry enough clothing in order to tackle unpredictable weather conditions of the Himalayas. Personal belongings are carried in the back pack you carry and rest are carried by Yaks or porters. Water proof duffel bags are provided by us which will be carried by our responsible porters.
