Jomsom-Muktinath trek, one of the easiest trekking route in Annapurna region, carries a high religious significance for the Hindus and Buddhists. No doubt, the places are well known for their incredible natural richness.

Muktinath Temple (3710m), to the Hindus, is sacred as the place for salvation. It is believed that a pilgrimage to place guarantees salvation after death. And to the Buddhist the place is where the great Sage Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhana) meditated. The Kaligandaki River, flowing through the world’s deepest ridge, is popular for fossilized ammonites, locally known as “Saligram” (resembling lord Vishnu in Hindu mythology).

The trek starts from Nayapul (1 hr drive from the beautiful city of Pokhara). Walking along the perennial rivers, astonishing waterfalls, narrow George and the lush rhododendron forest, we reach Ghorepani-Poonhill (3210m), popular as the photographer’s point. The place offers the one of the best panaromic view of Majestic Annapurna Massif (8091m), and the view of sunset and sunrise through the snowcapped peaks seen from the point is absolutely incredible. From there the trail moves ahead to Jomsom (2700m) which is a small business hub of the region and hosts an airport. From there we walk a little higher to reach Muktinath.
