Damodar Kunda, which lies in the Northeast side of Mustang district, carries a huge religious significance for Hindus. The lake at the height of 5400m is cold and windy but offers a magnificent view of the mountains including Annapurna South, Muktinath peak, Damodar Himal and the southern part of the Tibetan plateau.

Damodar Kunda is the source of Kaligandaki River. In the Hindu mythology, the lake is considered as the Head of Lord Bishnu and Muktinath as his mouth. Through other various places, the manifestation of Lord Bishnu lying is made in the religious book “Barah Puran”. Other places include RuRu Chhetra of Palpa district as the waist, Shaligram Chakra as Chest, Devaghatum as the knee and feet of Lord Bishnu as the Gajendra Mokshadevadhan. Hindus believe to experience sacramental divinity to attain atonement from all their sins after dipping into this holy lake. Another mythical story says that two sons of Kuber were released from sins and suffering after dipping into the lake, following the instruction of Lord Krishna.

 

One Day Helicopter Tour to Damodar Kunda:

The Helicopter Tour to Damodar Kunda commences from the domestic Airport in Kathmandu, early in the morning. Enjoying the bird’s eye view of Lantang range and Mansiri range we enter into Annapurna region. We land in Muktinath, which carries a huge religious significance for Hindus and Buddhist all over the world. Offering our prayers to the God of Salvation in Muktinath we resume our journey to Damodar Kunda. We indulge in various rituals and perform our pooja in Damodar Kunda and finally return to Kathmandu. The entire trip lasts for about 3-4 hours.

This package combines the Damodar Helicopter tour with various sightseeing tours in the various cultural Heritage sites of Kathmandu and the scenic natural wonders of Pokhara. The tour starts and ends in Kathmandu, whereas the Helicopter tour starts and ends in Pokhara.

1
Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

You will be welcomed by our staff standing with your name-card in the airport arrival terminal and transferred to your hotel by the private vehicle. There will be a dinner program in one of the Nepalese restaurants with typical Nepalese cuisine. There will be a small meeting about the trip in the evening.

Kathmandu Sightseeing and evening flight to Pokhara.

Today after breakfast you will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and Buddhists shrine of Bouddhanath which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. From there, we head to Airport for a flight to Pokhara. Overnight at Hotel

Fly to Muktinath to Damodar Kund and Fly back to Pokhara

Today after breakfast, First, Our heli-tour culminates at the beautiful serene Muktinath, Muktinath is god of Salvation, it holds great significance for all spiritual people in the south Asian sub continent. Muktinath (the provider of salvation) has been one such holy site, where thousands of devotees flock for attaining the much sought after moksha, have holy bath on 108 waterspouts, name of Muktidhara, Holy bath in Mukti Kunda (2 Kunda in front of Temple), Hindu devotees take bath under chilled water of 108 waterspouts Muktidhara, Mukti Kunda, its believing that it brings them salvation, Have darshan and worship to Muktinath god walk to Jwalamai Temple. Then Our Heli- Tour culminates at the beautiful serene Damodarkund Lake. Common names for the 3 lakes in this area are: Brahma Kunda, Rudra Kunda and Ananta Kunda, Damodar kunda is located at the altitude of 22,000 feet in the remote Himalayan district of Mustang in western Nepal. There is also a large meadow of Kusha found here. As a motherland of shaligram, this shrine is of utmost importance for all Hindus throughout the world; Gandaki River is believed to originate from this holy lake. We go through our personal rituals and a dip in this icy cold holy lake to get rid of all our sins for a lifetime with the hopes that we will not commit anymore sins again. You will fly back to Pokhara or Kathmandu same helicopter. In the early parts of the day, we do some local sightseeing; visit David’s fall, Seti Gorge {milky white river}, the deepest in the world & also visit the interesting Tibetan Refugee Camp. After visit, Muktinath and Damodar Kund, then you will fly back to Pokhara and have time for sightseeing and relaxation.
