Chulu East Peak Climbing is an adventurous journey that takes all the way to the summit of the Chulu East Peak (6429m) in the Annapurna region. At the summit, along with the peak conquering accomplishment, you will be rewarded with the amazing view of the towering peaks of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre, Hiunchuli and other various other colossal mountains. The climb is suitable for the physically fit trekkers with basic mountaineering skills, since there is high use of fixed ropes and crampons on the steep snowy trails. The whole journey is fascinating; as you indulge to the Annapurna Circuit trekking around the Annapurna Massif, you will experience the Himalayan lifestyles, pristine culture and kind hospitality of the locals, teahouse, and pass through the Thorong la pass (5460m) to reach Muktinath and Jomsom.

Amazing Experience for Chulu East Peak Climbing

A ride from Kathmandu takes you to Chamje from where the trekking starts. You will visit the marvelous village of Manang valley and head to Chulu East Base Camp. You conquer your quest on the summit of the Peak and return to the base. From there you will circle around the Annapurna Massif crossing through the Thorong  la pass to reach the arid land of Muktinath and Jomsom, situated at the bank of Kaligandaki ridge, the deepest of the world. From there taking a flight back to Kathmandu, you will have a last view of the mountains, somewhere in the middle lies the one you conquered.

Day

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel [1,300m]
You will be welcomed by our staff standing with your name-card in the airport arrival terminal and transferred to your hotel by the private vehicle. Small meeting about the trip in the evening.

Day

Trek preparation & Kathmandu valley sightseeing.
After your breakfast you will be introduced to the trekking guides and helpers. And the Kathmandu sightseeing beings with visit to various UNESCO enlisted cultural Heritage sites including medieval Palaces in Kathmandu-Bhaktapur-Lalitpur Durbar squares. Other sites are Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath Stupa. In the evenining you will walk along the Thamel streets which is a good place to buy trekking equipment.

Day

Drive to Chame (2725m), 6 hrs walk.
An early drive from Kathmandu, enjoying the fabulous view of Trishuli river you reach Chame, the official district capital of Manang district. As we approach Chame, we are rewarded by the fine views of Annapurna II and two small hot springs by the town.

Trek to Pisang (3300m), 5 hrs walk.
Hiking though the deep forest and narrow valley at the bank of Marshyangdi River, we will see a long suspension bridges at 2910 meter and another at 3040 meter. Paungda Danda rock emerges from the second suspension bridge and the trail joins to climb Pisang. Passing the Oble Dome rock wall the trail of Annapurna Circuit trek continued to upper Pisang, the place famous for architecturally magnificent village at 3100 meters.

Day

Trek to Ngawol Village 3,660m 5/6 hours overnight at Lodge.
After our breakfast in Pisang, we start our trek. Enjoy the magnificent view of mountain and ascending through the rocky trail we reach a small settlement of Ngawol Village.

Trek to Chulu East Base Camp 4,989m 5/6 hours.
The trek this day is long as well as rewarding. We will gain a lot of altutitude but reach out base camp for the Chulu East climbing.

Rest for acclimatization and preparation.
This day is separated as the acclimatisation day. You explore around few places. Our guide will provide the necessary instruction for the climbing along with the basic mountaineering trainings.

Day

Trek to High Camp 5,800m 5 hours.
This day we will climb to the High camp. We make a careful climb and spend our night in the tented camp.

Day

Early Morning climb to Chulu East 6,429m back to Base camp 9/10 hours.
In the early morning, with the following our guide and the fixed rope, you will carefully walk to accomplish what you dreamt of. Enjoy the magnificent minute on the top witnessing a spectacular view of mountain range and carefully descend down below to the Base Camp.

Day

Spare day in case of contingencies during the summit day.
There is no such guarantee that we can get quite a favorable weather on our planned day for the summit (day 09), so this day is used as a contingency in case if we are unable to summit the Island on day 09 due to bad weather condition or some other reasons. If weather becomes exceptionally unfavorable we wisely have to postpone the program of summiting the peak on day 09 for toady (Day 10). Sometimes somebody in the group may get some problems in acclimatizing well enough to make the ascent; the day can be used in that condition too. If the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this spare day.

Trek to Manang (3540m), 5 hrs walk.
After Pisang, we have alternate paths at north and south of the Marsyangdi River that meets up again at Mungji. The southern route by Hongde, with its airstrip, at 3325m involves less climbing than the northern route via Ghyaru, despite the fact that there are better views on the trail that follows the northern bank of the river. From Mungji, the trail continues past the quaint but partially hidden village of Bryanga at 3475m to nearby Manang at 3500m. Walking along the valley through the drier upper part of Manang (the unofficial trekking capital of the Annapurna Circuit) we can view Annapurna range. People of this area herd yaks and raise crops for leaving, beside this during winter they move to other places for trades.

Trek to Yak kharka (4090m), 4 hrs walk.
Leaving Manang the trail ascends steadily along the Jarsang Khola valley and reaches Ledar at 4250 meter. Walking and glancing over the steadily sparse vegetations, we reach Yak Kharka at 4090 meter.

Trek to Thorung Phedi(4420m), 4 hrs walk.
Descending the trail, crossing the river at 4310 meters and again climbing through the trail takes you to Thorung Phedi at 4420 meters. At the foot of Thorung La Pass, this place gives your pleasant view of massive Annapurna region.

Trek to Thorungla - la (cross over 5416m), then trek down to Muktinath 3802m), 8-9 hrs walk.
The journey starts early in the morning from the foot of the hill to the Thorung La Pass, highest place of our twentyone days Annapurna Circuit Trek. Crossing the steeply made pass, covered with stone, we hike gradually looking at magnificent views. Pass marked by Chortens and prayer flags looks nice and magnificent views imprints in your memory. Passing Thorung La, we reach the sacred site of Muktinath at the elevation of 3800 meters. Hindus and Buddhists alike visit Muktinath. The temple is built in the pagoda style dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Avalokiteshwara as the Buddhists call him. For Hindus, Muktinath is one of the most important places of pilgrimage. Long and difficult yet rewarding day of our Annapurna Circuit Trek.

Day

Trek to Kagbeni to Jomsom (2713m), 5 hrs walk.
Finally, the Annapurna Circuit trek heads downhill, through the arid landscape to the ancient town of Kagbeni on the Kali Gandaki River. A maximum of three hours trek from Muktinath to Kagbeni (2800), where you can visit some two thousand five hundred years old monasteries and get to know some Himalayan culture. Walk further to Jomsom and spend overnight there to catch flight back to Pokhara. Overnight at teahouse. Last day of the trekking portion of Annapurna trek.

Fly to Pokhara.
Fly to Pokhara from Jomsom. Transfer to hotel. Free time on your own. Massage, boating at Phewa Lake and relax.

Pokhara to Kathmandu Approx 6 hrs driving.
Around six hours scenic drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. You can spend you rest of the time for personal shopping or individual sightseeing.

Required Equipments

This is a guideline to help what equipment are necessary for trekking and peak climbing. Normally personal equipment and items are individual choice but the most important face that one should have enough gears to tackle the weather in Himalaya.

During the trek heavy items will be carried by our porters or yaks. And the personal belongings which you need for daily or frequent purposes like money, water bottle, rain gear, camera, sun-cream and toilet paper etc. are to be carried by yourself in the backpack. We will provide complimentary water proof duffel bag which you can use during the trek and is carried by porters. You can leave your non trekking items at the hotel or in our office and collect them after the trek.

Flowing gear list gives you some ideas that you can bring for the successful climbing.

  • Gore-Tex jacket with hood, waterproof and breathable.
