Overview

A hill station with a view of a majestic mountains such as Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri range. Located 270 km west of Kathmandu the trek provides magical experience in a short period of time. Like many other trekking the starting point of this treks is from the Pokhara valley. This trek route is considered as one of the easy route in Annapurna region and is best for unexperienced hikers. It is also suitable for people who wants to experience the trekking but time is an issue. There are plenty of guest houses and restaurant and few shops are available, where all the daily essential are found. One mustn’t worry about getting lost as the trails are well marked. The type of food available in this trek are usually Nepali and Western.

Like every other trek routes in Annapurna there is not any fix starting and ending point in this route. You can start this trek from Nayapool which is accessible by jeep from Pokhara or even Ghandruk. The jeeps now will take you to Ulleri as well but only when the roads conditions are fair enough for off-road vehicles. If you cannot walk uphill it is better that you do it from Ghandruk. Buses are also available to go to Ghandruk but during monsoon due to road condition jeeps are highly recommended. For the trek in order to see the hills decorated with pinkish rhododendron, you must pay your visit during late April, March to May.

Best Seasons to go:-

If you hiked up during spring season especially in the time of April you could see the rhododendrons in full bloom and is the best time to trek the Ghorepani poon hill trek as you could overview the rhododendron forest and hike comfortably as the views are pleasing with a comfortable weather.

The peak trekking season for Poon Hill is during between September - November and then March - May. Even though hiking is still possible for December January but the winter conditions are bit icy as the temperature is below 15 degree Celsius. If you can walk in snow then the view on winters are to look after as well.
