Overview

Tamang Heritage Trail is eco-cultural trek that goes along various Tamang settlements of the Langtang Region, offering an extraordinary opportunity to closely understand the pristine culture and lifestyles of those indigenous communities. Furthermore, the trails are decorated by the astonishing view of of Ganesh range, Langtang Range and Tibetan range including Shishapagma (8017m), highest of the Tibet.

Langtang Tamang Heritage Trial Route

Tamangs who follow Buddhism originate from the Tibetan race. They have their own way of Living following their distinct culture, attire and foods. The ideology is dominated by the mythical beliefs, as a result, various rituals including worships-offerings and tantric dances are part of day to day lives.

Our trek starts from Syafrubesi (117km from Kathmandu), from where we head towards the Gatlang village. The stone built houses and wooden carved structures reflect the pristine settlements at its best. Walking forward we reach Tatopani. It is another village vastly populated by the tamangs. The place was also famous for Natural Hot spring water, which was severely affected by the Earthquake in 2015. However, there is new hot spring water resource a little below the village of Tatopani. From there we ascend a little higher to reach the Naagthali Village. The paranomic view of Ganesh Range, Langtang range, Tibetan ranges and Gosainkunda range is absolutely incredible. You will be surrounded by mountains in almost every direction. We continue our journey to Thuman Village and then Briddhin Villages. The villages host various home stay facilities with great hospitality. There are old monasteries in those places and one can also experience the rituals of tantric magicians. We follow the Lama hotel-Ghoda tabela route to reach Langtang Village. The village lies in the lap of High Mountains. From there we reach Kyanjing Gompa (3740m). There is an ancient monastery and cheese factory in the village. The nearby places Langsisha pastures and Shergo Ri (4984m), offer view of magnificent mountain ranges, lakes and various glaciers. We retun via langtang valley-Lamahotel route to reach Syafrubesi. A drive from there takes us to Kathmandu.
